Network Engineer

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join Amazons dynamic team. As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of Amazons network infrastructure. This role is critical to supporting Amazons global network, working with cutting-edge technologies to maintain our world-class services. You will work alongside an exceptional team of engineers, tackling complex challenges, and driving innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, Implement, and Maintain Network Infrastructure: Responsible for the design, configuration, and optimization of network components and systems to ensure seamless operations.

  •  

  • Troubleshooting and Incident Management: Quickly diagnose and resolve network-related issues to minimize downtime and ensure high availability of network services.

  •  

  • Network Performance Monitoring: Use tools and systems to monitor network performance and identify areas for improvement.

  •  

  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including systems administrators, security experts, and developers to implement network solutions that meet organizational needs.

  •  

  • Security and Compliance: Ensure that network configurations comply with security policies and best practices to protect Amazons network infrastructure.

  •  

  • Capacity Planning and Upgrades: Plan for network capacity based on current and future demand, ensuring Amazons network can scale as needed.

  •  

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain up-to-date documentation of network configurations, issues, and solutions to enhance future troubleshooting and optimization efforts.

  •  

  • Testing and Validation: Conduct regular network tests to ensure optimal functionality and reliability.

  •  

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  •  

  • Educational Background: A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  •  

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.), networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls), and tools (Wireshark, NetFlow, etc.).

  •  

  • Experience with Network Technologies: Hands-on experience with LAN/WAN technologies, IP addressing, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and network security practices.

  •  

  • Certifications: Industry-recognized certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or equivalent certifications preferred.

  •  

  • Cloud Networking Experience: Knowledge of cloud-based networking, particularly within AWS environments, is a significant advantage.

  •  

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, especially in complex network environments.

  •  

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear, effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  •  

Experience:

  •  

  • At least 3 years of experience in network engineering or a related field.

  •  

  • Hands-on experience in network configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  •  

  • Prior experience in working with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and familiarity with distributed systems is a plus.

  •  

  • Proven track record of working in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.

  •  

Working Hours:

  •  

  • This is a full-time remote position.

  •  

  • Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (flexible based on time zone).

  •  

  • Occasional on-call support may be required for critical issues.

  •  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  •  

  • Proficiency in Networking Tools: Deep understanding and experience using monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, Nagios, and others.

  •  

  • Automation Skills: Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages such as Python or Bash to streamline network management tasks.

  •  

  • Advanced Routing & Switching: Expertise in advanced routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and switching technologies (VLAN, STP).

  •  

  • Security Best Practices: Knowledge of network security principles, firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

  •  

  • Cloud Networking: Experience with cloud infrastructure and network management, particularly within AWS.

  •  

  • Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, both remotely and in person.
