Position Title: Construction General Manager

Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Implement the Board's vision by guiding business operations to ensure profitability and growth.
- Develop and pursue new business opportunities.
- Identify innovative technical solutions to enhance construction efficiency.
Project Management:
- Assume total responsibility for the technical and financial success of various projects.
- Prepare and adhere to an annual business plan, meeting budget, cash flow, and profit targets.
- Oversee and coordinate the construction of multiple projects simultaneously to ensure compliance with plans and quality standards.
- Maintain construction schedules, tracking and reporting project status regularly.
- Maintain quality and company standards throughout the construction process.
- Ensure suitable project management systems are in place to meet schedule, budget, and quality constraints.
Risk Management:
- Manage business risk across all company activities.
- Establish and maintain quality control throughout the construction process.
- Ensure that all contract and construction documentation are accurate and issued to the relevant teams.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Develop business relationships with strategic partners.
- Obtain the Board of Directors' approval for major company activities, such as new project bidding, financial commitments, asset purchases, and key staff hiring.
- Provide training and development, performance evaluation, and appraisals for company staff to enhance their qualifications, motivation, and commitment to the company.
Communication and Reporting:
- Communicate and negotiate project scopes, prices, and contracts.
- Resolve disputes efficiently and reasonably, taking the lead in dispute resolution.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with client representatives, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Receive and review detailed project reports from site teams, escalating issues as necessary.
- Establish formal reporting arrangements for clients and the company on project progress.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture (B.E. in Civil Engineering / B. Arch). A Master's in Business Administration will be an added advantage.
- Proven experience in the construction sector with at least 10 years of experience as a General Manager in civil construction.
- Strong business acumen and a deep understanding of the organization's business model and industry trends.
- Strong personal network and willingness to engage with stakeholders regularly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective in managing project variations and handling client variations.
- Experience in the Nigerian construction market is desired.
